Re: swrl & heritage
I'm afraid I haven't used SWRL, so I can't comment on it. I would suggest that you look at OWL (http://www.w3.org/2004/OWL) as a representation language and at Pellet (http://pellet.owldl.org) as a reasoner to help answer the type of questions that you are posing. By the way, would you mind explaining a bit about your project? Does it in some way relate to the Virtual Plant Information Network (VPIN) project that hosts this forum?

Hello,

I want to test if a class (A) can be subClass of another (B),
and I want to do it in checking if the properties of (A) are in (B) :
I am not interesting for comparing properties by their names, but in using domain, range, functional and so other

so my question, that I have read a bit about SWRL, Jess but I don't understand how can I use one of them, (or both)
to express what I want.

I hope that any one can help me,

Thanks,

Dear Collegue,

The 1st International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering (iCBBE2007) was held successfully from July 7th to 9th, 2007 at RAMADA hotel, Wuhan, China. More than 250 authors coming from 15 countries attended the conference. Now all the accepted papers are included in IEEE Xplore and EI Inspec, and will be indexed by EI Compendex soon.

The 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering (iCBBE2008: www.icbbe.org) will be held from May 16th to 18th, 2008 in Shanghai, China. iCBBE2008 will bring together top researchers from Asian Pacific areas, North America, Europe and around the world to exchange research results and address open issues in all aspects of bioinformatics and biomedical engineering. As we did in iCBBE 2007, All ...

Forum: Moby Protocol » Thread: Resource Providers

Resource Providers
I just committed some changes to the MOBY API that I will briefly summarize here. Previously, MOBY resources (individuals with rdf:type moby:Resource) documented their provider with two required properties, moby:providerName and moby:providerAboutURI. These have been replaced by a single moby:providedBy property, which should reference (i.e. its value should be the URI of) an individual of type moby:Provider. A moby:Provider individual in turn has three properties - name (required, string), oneLineDescription (required, string), and aboutURI (optional, URI).

In the rare case in which a resource is hosted on one domain, but claims that it is providedBy a provider outside its domain, it can only be registered in the discovery server if the Provider individual in the other domain has a providesResource property that points back at (i.e. has as its value the URI of) the resource.

Resource description graphs will only parse if they conform to this protocol. The ...

Now with the cvs structure refactoring complete this link is no longer valid. For sample client code; use this link:

Developers' telecon: Gene Expression Heat Map
Gene Expression Heat Map Use Case

On today's developer telecon, we discussed next steps for sswap. We want to achieve:

1) Demonstrative value for legume biologists
2) Identify new services for TIGR to offer
3) Incorporate Noble's gene expression data in VPIN
4) Have LIS use SSWAP to value-add its offerings
5) Value-add Gramene's data via integration
6) Explore dynamic integration potential under SSWAP

We can address all these goals via the following Use Case:

Gene Expression Heat Map Use Case (LIS Service)

1) A legume biologist enters text, such as "ACC oxidase" into the search box at sswap.info.

2) A service called "Gene Expression Heat Map" is returned on the Results page.

3) The biologist invokes the service and one of two actions occur (4a or 4b):

4a) The biologist is taken directly to a results page, where it shows a linear depiction of a chromosome segment, and tiled above it are annotaions from TIGR, QTL ...
